The mission, which began under the leadership of Reverend Rodney Smothers, continued under the leadership of Reverend Richard D. Winn. Reverend Winn came to Hoosier in 1986 when Reverend Smothers was appointed Director of Evangelism and Revitalization at the General Board of Discipleship. Reverend Winn remained at Hoosier as Senior Pastor for nine years. In June 1995, Reverend Winn was appointed to the Warren Memorial United Methodist Church, and he passed the charge of leadership to Reverend Donald K. Reed, Senior Pastor, and Reverend Celestine M. Boston, our newly appointed Associate Pastor. Reverend Reed served as pastor for two years and in June of 1997, Reverend Wimbley Hale, Jr. came to Hoosier and served as Senior Pastor for four years. Reverend Boston served as Associate Pastor until June 1999.

On June 24, 2001, the Reverend Doctor Derrick Rhodes came to Hoosier to continue the Christian work of the four previous pastors. Reverend Ryan Jones was assigned as Assistant Pastor. Reverend Rhodes remained at Hoosier for four years. During this time, a ministerial staff was formed consisting of Ministers Thomas Walters, Janette King, Donnella Cranford, Rori Blakeney, and Kenya Rucker. Presently, two of these ministers remain in this capacity. Minister Walters serves as Minister of Evangelism and Missions and Minister King is Minister of Music.

Pastor Woodrow Williams came to us in June, 2007, our 25th year. Natha Harris has served as Administrative Assistant since 2001. Two of our faithful members serve as Church Sextons: Charles Gilmore and Emerson Winfield.

Currently, Hoosier has five choirs, four usher boards, a staff of acolytes, dedicated communion stewards, five musicians, sound system operators, viable Sunday School classes for all ages, and children, youth, singles, family, and older adult ministries. Noon and evening Bible studies and Discipleship classes are offered. Girl Scout and Boy Scout programs, Outreach and Nurture programs, United Methodist Men and Women organizations, Evangelism, Education and Worship ministries, Birthmonth Clubs, a hospitality committee and an active communication program all provide avenues through which members actively participate in carrying out the word of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

On June 27, 2010, Hoosier was blessed to have Rev. Dr. Bernice W. Kirkland come to us as our seventh pastor. Pastor Kirkland is married to Darryl Kirkland and they have two children, Jasmine and Derek.
